Equity pricing

Education shouldn't depend on geography.Same product. Fairer price.

Samio for Schools costs different amounts in different countries. Schools in lower-income economies pay less so cost doesn't keep classrooms off the platform. We use the World Bank's income classification — not promo codes, not negotiation — so the math is principled and transparent.

Why we do this

$159/month is a different number in São Paulo than in Stockholm.

Software priced for high-income markets quietly excludes most of the world. We didn't want to launch a product that only worked for schools that could already afford international SaaS. Equity pricing lets a school in Mexico, Vietnam, or Egypt access the same dashboard, the same AI, the same compliance suite — at a price that fits their reality.

How tiers work

Three tiers, indexed to country income.

Each plan has three prices. Your tier is resolved from the country in your school's billing address.

Reference price

Standard

High-income economies — US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea.

About 50% off

Upper-middle income

Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Poland, Romania, South Africa, China.

About 75% off

Lower-middle / Low income

India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Egypt, Morocco, Bolivia, most of sub-Saharan Africa.

How your tier is set

Bound to your school's address. Locked at registration.

Resolved from your billing address

We map the country you provide at registration to the World Bank income group (FY2025).

Locked at registration

Your tier is set when you first subscribe and stays with that subscription. Moving offices later does not silently change your price.

Currency stays USD

All PayPal billing happens in USD. The discount is applied to the plan price; local-currency display is future work.

Coupons stack on top

Promo codes apply to your tier-resolved price. They don't replace the equity discount.

Special cases

NGO partnerships, scholarships, verified hardship.

If your school is an NGO partner, an under-resourced program in a higher-income country, or otherwise needs a tier that doesn't match your billing address, send us a note. We review these case-by-case and grant manual tier overrides where it's warranted.

The principle

We make less per school in lower-income economies. That's fine.

The classroom matters more than the margin. If a teacher in Lagos and a teacher in Lisbon get the same product because the price respects their reality, we've done the right thing — and we've built a business that's bigger, not smaller, for it.
